As part of the guild's community outreach, members make quilts and
other items, such as pillowcases and wheelchair caddies, to donate to various Amador
county organizations. Groups donated to have included nursing homes, shelters for
battered women, and the Amador-Tuolumne Community Action Agency.
If you know of a local organization that could use these items, or have fabric or
quilting supplies you would like to donate, contact the
comfort quilts chair.
All members receive the monthly guild newsletter. The newsletter is
emailed, but upon request it can be mailed. The newsletter keeps members updated on
what is going on in the guild. It contains information about the various committees,
guild activities, and other items of interest related to quilting and sewing.
Contributions to the newsletter are welcome. Members and non-members may advertise
quilting or sewing related items in the newsletter. Contact the
newsletter chair
for further information or ad rates.
Each year MLQG creates an Opportunity Quilt to raise funds for the guild's charitable
projects. Chances on the quilt are sold for
$1 a ticket or 6 tickets for $5. The winning ticket is drawn at the October guild meeting.
The guild is currently selling tickets for the 2008 quilt, "Something to Crow About".
